A lamp name in keeping with the overall shape
We think it's simpler for the name of our pendant or wall lights to be representative and descriptive. This makes them easier to remember.
So our first questions are: What did we want to show through this lamp? What is the basic inspiration? How could we describe it?
For the FLEUR wall lamp,
The shape is quite significant and it was easy to come up with a name.
This is often the case with our :
The SUNNY wall lamp reminds us of a sun, the WRECKING BALL table lamp of a Wrecking Ball and the hanging lamp with birds of an aviary...
A lamp name linked to music
However, our choice of name is not limited to describing the lamp.
While some brands name their products after women, animals or places, we've chosen music. Why did we choose music? It made us laugh and added a little poetry. Sometimes you don't need much to be happy!
‘LA CAGE AUX OISEAUX’ comes, of course, from the song by Pierre Perret, a passage of which we find particularly appealing:
"Une fois dans vot' vie
Vous qui êtes pas comme eux
Faites un truc qui vous rendra heureux"
The hanging lights in the SINGING range are round in shape, with an outline. They are reminiscent of an open umbrella. The song we naturally associated with them is Gene Kelly's ‘Singin'in the Rain’. It's positive, catchy and so much a part of our collective memory!
The FRAGILE hanging lamp, made from handmade paper with real dried flowers, evokes the gentleness and fragility of the world and of humankind. We chose the song ‘Fragile’ by Sting for it.
"On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are"
For SUNNY, Bobby Hebb's song is so strong that it stood out. It exudes such optimism, such positive thinking and such a feel good factor, even in difficult times, that you can't help but be charmed.
"Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain
Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain
The dark days are gone
And the bright days are here
My Sunny one shines so sincere
Sunny one so true, I love yo"
The name COMETS takes an S from the eponymous Cocoon song... We think the lyrics and music exude a gentle, poetic quality, and the clip is so full of imagination and dreams that we can't resist sharing it with you.
"And I wish I was a comet to crash on your field
Just to be remembered
And I wish I was a comet to crash at your feet
Just to be remembered"
For the other models in the RIF LUMINAIRES range, we'll let you guess which song or musician they're referring to!
