Combining period renovation and modernity
Creating a contemporary design in a place full of old ornaments is a real question of balance, which the agency has achieved brilliantly.
The mouldings (ceiling and walls) and the overmantels of the fireplaces have been renovated: the original gold paint has been replaced with real gold leaf to restore their historic lustre.
To counterbalance this splendour, the U.design agency has selected very modern furniture with clean lines.
A reasoned French approach
At the client’s request, the agency brought in French artisans: a plasterer and a gilder to restore the moldings, as well as an ornamental blacksmith for the central island.
Le mobilier et l'agencement ont été sélectionnés en France. Par exemple, la verrière entre la chambre et la salle de bain a été réalisée par une entreprise normande et le béton ciré provient de chez Mercadier.
The choice of Wrecking Ball wall lights
The U.design agency selected the wrecking balls because it ‘really liked the lighting effects created by the wall lights, and the format was perfect for the locations we had! ‘. Their French manufacture also fitted in perfectly with the project's approach.
